1/16/08 - Explain featured at singleoftheday.com

Today over at Singleoftheday.com they are rocking out to our single, Explain the Explanation. Jody Whitesides, who runs the singleoftheday blog, covers various musical genres in his quest to expose his readers to a song that fits the mood he's in for the day or what's currently happening in his world.

Explain will also be played this evening at 6pm central on the Stack & Di show on www.odu.fm.

If that wasn't enough Explain for you, you could get a time machine and go back to Sunday night (January 13th) at 9pm and listen to it on the 102.1 KDGE Local show. Ayo spun the track to help promote our show tomorrow (January 17th) at Carson's Live. We're playing the KDGE Texas Unsigned Showcase at 10pm, $5 cover for 18 and up, hosted by Ayo from the Edge and Matthew JC from Small Guy Music. Three bands for $5, can you beat that? Also featuring Industry6.

11/4/07 - Explain the Explanation on 102.1 The Edge

So Thursday, when we met up with Ayo at the Carsons Live Unsigned Bands showcase, we gave him a cd totally not expecting any airplay. In fact, I think I've given out more cd's than I can possibly remember to FM and College DJ's without ever hearing an ounce of our music on the airwaves. This is a first for me. It's not that I have a negative attitude about it, it's just that after so long, trying to get something on the radio just seemed completely out of reach. Especially here in Dallas.

To my surprise, Ayo announced on the Local Boy show tonight that they were going to play us. I immediately grabbed my cell and text messaged everyone I knew local and some family back home. I had all of 10 minutes to get the word out. I think I had about 25 folks tuned in on both the radio and via KDGE streaming audio. I think that was the most fun I have ever had in texting from my phone. lol

So, "Explain the Explanation" was played. It is one of my favorites no less from the cd. I had really expected "The Man" to be played, but I give big kudos to Ayo for listening enough to find that song. It's a diamond in the rough I think.

Thanks so much for everyone that has supported us. If you were tuned in, that was totally for you. Thanks to Ayo for giving the old geeky guys a chance on the radio. Can't wait to hang out again on Thursday at Carsons. Hope to see many of you there.

Cheers,

a giddy... Zac

9/3/07 - The Man named Track of the Week on Garageband.com

Our song The Man is the current Modern Rock Track of the Week on Garageband.com. With a current rating of 5-stars, The Man is the highest rated song in any genre on the Dallas charts!

Garageband is a website that lets people give anonymous reviews to randomly chosen songs from unsigned artists. Artists are not allowed to review their own songs or send their fans to artificially inflate their reviews, so it gives a pretty true measure of the merits of a song.

7/17/07 - Chad Leaves the Band, Keith Joins
First the bad news...Chad Hudgens after two years with the band has decided to hang up the sticks for a bit to focus on his career. Chad will be missed greatly for his skills on the drums and incredible sense of humor. We all thank him for his hard work and helping us lay the foundation for this little band.

Luckily Keith Mitchell, Chad's injury fill-in, has agreed to stay on full time with us so we should miss nary a beat...no pun intended. That's the good news!

New pics should be up soon along with more live performance dates, etc.

3/20/2007 - "Collusion" Reviewed at NEUFUTUR.com
Collusion was reviewed today by James McQuiston of NEUFUTUR.com. Here's an excerpt:

"This may just be a six-song EP, but the fact that there is so much to hear during the album and that the album itself holds a high level of replay should bode well for any full-lengths that 1000 Miles From Home may release in the next few years. Make sure to dig out a copy of this EP or see the band live; it should be only a matter of time before they will be able to make the jump to the next level and be known equally well through all fifty states in the Union."

2/20/2007 - "Collusion" CD Review on PegasusNews.com
Our upcoming CD release was reviewed today by Dallas-Fort Worth based PegasusNews.com Music Editor Erin Rice and she is now our favorite music journalist on Earth. No word yet on if she's except our invitation to the prom. Here's an excerpt:

"The biggest compliment I think I can give this EP is that after listening to it the requisite six or more times, I still want to listen to it again and again...Overall, Collusion is an incredibly catchy album with prettier songs mixed among slightly darker tunes and lyrics."

2/19/2007 - Jeff Widman joins the band
We're excited to announce that singer/songwriter Jeff Widman has decided to join our little band!

We first met Jeff at a local venue where he was performing his solo acoustic set. His stage presence, musicianship, songwriting, and vocals were so amazing that we knew immediately we had to work with him. Jeff will be helping Zac and Eddie with guitar duties and also lending his vocal and songwriting talents.

We've been rehearsing with Jeff since mid-January and he will make his debut with us at our CD Release Party, Saturday, March 10th at RockHouse Live in Dallas.

Jeff is originally from Canandaigua, New York, but he's been here in North Texas for quite a while graduating from East Plano High in 2005 (yep, he's just a baby). Check out Jeff's solo material on his MySpace.
